You know, if he was worried about letting any of his harem of bloodthirsty lunatics he can only barely keep from burning his house down through mind control get their egg back because they'd turn him in for a bounty if he didn't have their egg held over their head, then this guy should be counting his lucky stars this guy refused and prevented the return of all those eggs he collected. "Everyone is bi" indeed.

It's obvious that, for all his bragging of his 'heretical power', Jack isn't actually all that clever, or even competent. He's basically an example of how gaining special powers doesn't necessarily stop a loser from being a loser; it just makes him a loser with special powers.
In fact, this whole arc seems to be a deconstruction of the "character with OP special powers that defy the rules of the setting" trope that is so common in Isekai stories and similar light novel plots. Every quality we tend to expect from such characters is absent from Jack (save his special rule-defying power).
Jack isn't a badass, brave, strong, clever or even angsty. He also doesn't suffer as much persecution as you'd expect from someone whose power is supposed to be an affront to the natural order. He's a spoiled rich boy whose father gives him enough spending money that he can afford to house a ton of people.
Even his harem is deconstructed. Because he's actually super weak almost as a necessity for his gimmick to work, he attracts nothing but bullies, rabble and troublemakers, who all universally resent him, and are nothing but a drain on his resources.
And the 'cute' monster girl in his harem? She's really just a vicious goblin bandit who gleefully killed her tribe's original leader, led the rest into a life of banditry that was far below their original living standards, and gladly killed her own comrades when they learned her dirty secret. Naturally, such a person is completely untrustworthy and generally unpleasant to be around.
This arc is hilarious, and probably my favorite so far. This series really would have been better if it had just been written as a series of stories with different MCs instead of focusing on the half-elf with only occasional glimpses of other characters.
Sorry, I refuse!Mr. Barry, could it be...You're looking down on me?That's not it.If that's the case, I wouldn't have tracked you down for a duel...Jack has never felt unlucky for defying the world.Hah!?Barry is the strongest warrior of the town, from the day of his birth...Are you sick in the head? There's no word like "losing" in Barry's dictionary.Until this day.
