I get the feeling that some who acquire her will just auto-scrap/mod-fod because of the design; kinda depressing that she might not get a chance due to initial impressions.
Then again, someone's bound to want another shipgirl for their collection anyway.
Most shipgirls are "Middle schoolers" at the least, with maybe some of the destroyers like Akatsukis and Mutsukis pushing "grade schooler", but this looks firmly in the "kindergartner" zone.
Is this drawn by drew? It looks oddly similar to his, the eyes, the legs, the equipment straps. If it is, that holy crap he was able to draw a new character! Finally they're giving him more options and chances.
Have you seen recent Drew arts? I guess not. I think she is drawn by Ayaki based on the coloring.
It's because of his recent art that I thought this look like his. Guess not then, though they look oddly similar, although only because of the legs and eyes.
What a same, cause I would have liked to see more things from Drew. He rarely get to do much compare to other artist. I hope that the next one they would have him at least draw an Abyssal, cause I can tell his would be amazing. Or at least better than Shibafu's.
Bet she's gonna be Americanized in her Kai Ni. She was turned over to the United States on August 5th, 1947 and then broken up at Kure on October 13th, 1947.
They're really digging deep to avoid putting in more Allied ships, or at least that's what it feels like.
These ships have special properties... namely, opening ASW at 60 ASW stat instead of 100. Ass Taiyou's night warfare and escort capabilities, and it feels more like they are trying to shake up the "standard" fleet comps.

They put in an allied (Soviet) ship this time around, as well. What they're doing is digging deep to add in any sort of IJN ship that isn't a complete historical footnote like another oiler converted into a seaplane tender or another Kagerou or Yuugumo or submarine. Basically the entire IJN has been mined of every ship anyone would want to take into a fight that is actually distinct from other ships of their class.

The devs are just adding each (major) power that participate the WW2. It just happen that they added the Soviets this time, but sooner or later other Allied ships will be added to the mix
The new ships, Kaibokan and Taiyo had an unique ability as ASW role to make submarines look like cheese or salmon. It might also give us a hint that the future event might be a little submarine infested... (Atlantic)

I mean, even with an overly inflated ASW stat for what these vessels were actually capable of compared to allied vessels, it feels like they're digging hard. But if guess that's the problem inherent to a lot of naval based WW2 games. The capabilities of certain nation's just far outstrip those of others, making balance impossible without throwing history out the window.
