Isn't she Asashio Class, not Kagerou Class? Kagerou Class DDs came after the Asashios...

The Kagerou-class is an enlarged and improved Asashio-class, yes, but they're separate enough to warrant an entirely different class name.

It's also important to note that Kagerou class (and the subsequent Yuugumo) tried to optimize the stern profile in order to get higher speed out of these destroyers. A major design criteria is to meet the 35 knots and to be just as well armed as the Fubuki special class prior to Tomozuru incident, while keeping hull strength in mind after the 4th fleet incident.
