reading the yua's commentary, inazuma must be watching with jealousy at those boobs.

Also I think that is imuya instead of Kuma. Seeing how she's twitching her new foot.

Her injury was rather minor compared to what the subs and Bep went through. Also, as she wasn't a major character in this arc- or in general- she was safe as can be. She might roughed up a bit, but killed off? You don't kill off the bit characters.

I still don't know what to think about that. The blood and refusal to show in a panel of that page the true extent of the injury suggested something serious like amputation, wich is rather horrible (and puts her almost in the same level of damage of Hibiki and Imuya, I tell you. For me, Tenryou was the truly most injured ship in that operation, with a few organs crushed and bleeding internaly all the time. Hibiki just got serious damage at the end of the battle).

If it was just an injury like the one of Hibiki where her arm was damaged and "she couldn't even feel it maybe because of damage on the nervous system but hey, she was still able to move it and put an expresion of pain the moment she lost her forearm", then that's quite and makes her look soo pathetic in comparioson to other characters (but well, Yua doesn't like her the slightest i think. Not only her appearances are minimum, even in the special color pages she only appeared ONCE, I counted it, and making a hawawa face with nothing special. Even Akatsuki has more ink dedicated to her, and when Haruna came back to the comic, it is for a suggestive page of blood and violence). Did they needed a complex movement with the supply unit and Shimakaze to take her to Akashi just because of that? and Satsuki seemed to be in worst condition. I tought this was the Black Base and all that "joke" about the training with Kamio that was since the beginning, and moments before Imuya got already rekt in a horrible way like to say that this is new to them.

And then there is the worst part of that page: her dark and scared expression along with the line she says. Either the first (amputation) or second (simple damage) possibility, it makes me realy sad, specially if its the first possibility, because she can't even report her satus normally, she just says she doesn't feel it withouth looking at it and with terror in her eyes.

Your last line, i'm not sure about it. Precisely because she's sooo secondary (or even less), and seeing that the line of brutality has been crossed in this comic, she's perfect cannon fodder for drama that can involve Kongou's growth or simple gore fanservice. Funny how Yua doesn't draw first a beautiful scene of Kongou and Kamio making definitely not sweet love but ripped out legs and girls destroyed against a wall in explosions of blood popped out so fast.

Then frankly, maybe this comic doesn't suit your tastes. Yua has always had a focus on the combat, and a definite roster of favorites who get the limelight. Haruna is decidedly not on that list. You may find hisahiko's Haruna Weather more your speed, especially seeing as how she is the protagonist, or at least the main PoV. And the author is known for heartwarming content.

The whole point of this arc was that the aberrant Re-Class battleship was a massive threat- the first to do truly serious injury to the shipgirls of this base. Precisely because she used their own training and tactics against them, being part of Reiji's old squad. Keep in mind, we haven't even seen the Himes yet, let alone the Onis.

As for why no sexual porn? Because that is Comiket material, and yua actually does do H works- including some kancolle works. FWIW, one does involve Kongo, but it is separate from the Fleet Journal series. I imagine he wants to keep that work separate from Fleet Journal, which is story-oriented.

I know how this doujin goes. I've followed this Journal since almost its beginning, since the days where there were only a bit more than a dozen pages uploaded here in danbooru, when Reiji was only a cold faced guy and not an hiper muscular full of veins stern face guy who doesn't seem to be able to sleep. I even bought one of his Sequences because sometimes I like to help the artist. I know the kind of action of this doujin, and there is a diference between the shonen-kind of action of before (that can be also intense)and the gore we've had lately. There has been a little of hardcore stuff I remember, like a Ru class losing an eye by bullet and a Wo class getting an arrow from Kaga on the throat (with such a funny, strange blood splash. I thought Kaga would launch a plane and not an... actual arrow, why didn't she fought instead of Akebono). But also I remember a Ru class being one-shotted by a newbie Suzuya (was that a gag? is it/would it be now a gag?), but not in the amount to become the rule or the normal thing, it was more like the clímax of those moments, nothing more.

All the thing with the special training is vague and superficial (they're gonna fight for the life, but at the same time don't know how to fight and be in top condition?), but works for the plot to make the Re class (and, before, the Yua's shipgirls) aparently superior to others, although in those moments more for comical and some action-fanservice purposes. But in the end nothing of that has something to do with something like taking a leg with a single movement. That was overkill from the Re class and they shouldn't have won against her, but now that they could, it means that the most absurdly powerful monsters and suffering in the battles against them is allowed because in the end they will win for plot. Simple material resistance: how would they even be able to do superior moves thanks to their "training" if their bodies can't even stand it? just normal flesh is quite resistant on that, how can they a their level and being shipgirls be damaged that way by low abyssals (leaving Re aside and its absurdly inmense strengh that should be out of the logic of this doujin itself) without even a class? If their thoughness becomes shit as their equipment is damaged and get the softness of a human in the middle of a fight with a monster and its then normal to be destroyed by said monster... they fail greatly as human beings with such a crappy survival instinct considering their attitude when arriving to the newbies camp and the fact that they still have the ability to suffer in combat, future horrid combat (and they being or not human beings was one of the first themes in this doujin). Of course, when this place was all filled with gags and slice of life, when the hardcore stuff was only suggested in Reiji's past but looked aparently overcomed thanks to shipgirl science, it could justify the personalities of some of them and the relaxed slice of life and things like burning love (and a little bit of drama in discrimination and stuff), but not anymore. Are they morons livin la vida loca of an expendable human weapon? because as i said before, there is a diference between the normal shonen-action and the more heavy stuff of the last events. Its psychological effect can't be the same specially if you want to make a credible character and for the reader, more if the context doesn't build it neither. Serious injuries were already had in the past, now they have gotten to the next level just with the convenience of the "docks" and buckets to avoid breakdowns, although now it happens that they're not as efective as they should be: Hibiki laying two days and still with serum transfusion for her more-than-serious-injury-but-not-as-bad-as-Tenryou she had? I thought buckets worked diferently ( and the shipgirls that doesn't get a capsule have to endure with a simple bandage, huh?).
You don't fight a monster to whom you are like a cracker using precisely its same weapon: brute strength and physical attacks. It shouldn't be able to do it nothing, even in group, a group of puppies. To make it worse: the monster has the extra handicap of instant recovery. Much more funny: Reiji taking a good punch on his left arm and not losing it or it becoming thin air due to the enormous strength of that Re class that was able to sever a fully capable shipgirl. How strong they really are? aparently they should be so valuable because they have the power of a warship in a human size, but if a somewhat modified human can take that shit or a blade can pierce that abyssal shell or skin (unless you tell me those are blades and knives made or vibranium or something) then the budget is being so misspent in the ship girl program (part of it maybe in silencing the Human Rights Organizations). Isaac Netero knew that very well when facing The King: even if you are a steel-like hard badass, use first a god, then make the King taste the rainbow, and finally a nuke for good measure, and even then when the king landed two hits it was enough to hurt Netero really bad.
They seemed so rough, with all the Reiji's training and black base thing, but after seeing that there where no loses on the other units attacked by the Re (they only got heavy damage, wich in this same comic in the past meant tipical blood from mouth and head, like a shonen, and now I suppose it means much more) and shitty normal abyssals can be really terrible, the girls seem so normal now (or where really nerfed for no reason, no non-full-of-blood reason). The training is not that special anymore, it seems that it has more to do with some tactics and strategies (the fitness program of the training is so bad that is like watching a totally scientifically inaccurate movie about... science, and seing it fail in its own world miserably, so its hard for me to defend it), so I'm not sure the story will go to even heavier bosses like onis or himes: there is not enough buckets for the amount of corpses, and according to the author comments it looks like the doujin is reaching its final revelations about abyssals' origin.

I know he does H doujin, I've read that doujin long ago, but seeing that he has made hentai images of Hibiki or Imuya, why not of Kongou too considering the last events like the date? or maybe it wasn't uploaded yet. I've already read Hisahiko's work too and others. But in conclusion: really difficult to ignore this since i've read it for so long and believed it and its little world like is normal when reading a story (if not, how do you sumerge in it?)... until the day it lost control of its own logic.
