When you already know the copyright, extollere, it's really not that difficult to find the name of the characters..

I don't understand the problem here. Someone tagged the characters literally .5 seconds after I uploaded it. :P

That was me, and 4 minutes after. I'm an exception because I effortlessly know my way around.

The problem is slacking. The quality of posts isn't only about the pictures themselves. Then we'd call it pics instead of posts, eh?
Even I didn't know the names off the top of my head.
I actually discourage people to post if they're not willing to go the extra couple of inches for the tags, given the picture has a proper source (even then you should manage some features).
For scans, I give the poster some slack for having to investigate, which is not that simple most of the time.
Say I didn't know it was Sheryl, say you didn't know it was Macross, I would have tried searching for the features here on danbooru (if danbooru didn't fail so much, I could have been more descriptive in my search, but even two is enough for this character), like such:
long_hair blue_eyes
What do you know - first page, several pics.
For instance post #301964 the two macross frontier characters you posted.
But you did know it was from Macross Frontier. That's one tag. macross_frontier. And there you have it.

I am not familiar with recent characters.

Forgive me, but I'm sorry if I'm not up to par with your standards of posting. I go to school full-time, have two jobs, and do my best to contribute.

If you treat half of the people on this site as you've treated me, we'd have a whole lot less posts.

He's being a little over-confrontational about it, but he's right.

When I'm looking for a pic of a certain character, I tend to search for the character's name rather the series.

In most cases, if you type in the name of the show, you'll find the name of the character quickly (within a few seconds), either by seeing a pic of them on the first few pages, clicking on it, and copy-pasting the name, or by clicking on character names until you find the one that looks like the girl that you're posting.

Good tagging is important. What good does contributing do if your contributions just get caught up in the mess of thousands of other pics, never to be seen by people that are looking for pics like it?

The picture is great, just ignore Yara.

And ignore what? My suggestions on how to easily find the tags, so easy that even people in his situation having time to post stuff here off other image boards should find the time to do it properly without too much effort?

But... there's no problem, right? Someone else will come by and do it.
