Dunno how is it in the other countries. This is a page of thing called "diary" (for some reasons) in Russia. School students write there daily subjects schedule, homework exercises, and teachers write grades, so parents can know how their child do. Teachers also sometimes check how student's "diary" looks, and can write other notes for parents, like "disciplinary grade F, for drawing girls in diary".
