Is that a rear facing MG? I'm not familiar enough with the tank to say for sure, but if so then yeah that'd probably be the loader's job
It's the front-facing hull-mounted machine gun operated by the radio operator (Saori). They were using the turret-mounted machine gun earlier, and the turret was facing backwards (they were driving away while shooting backwards to maintain distance).
