To put that in perspective of the studio, the-japan-news.com reports that KyoAni has about 150 employees. That would put this as having lost 1/5th of their employees.

Didn't that specific studio employ 75? Or do I have the number wrong?

There were some 70 people in that building (their 1st Studio building) at the time, but KyoAni also has a head office, a 2nd Studio building, a Tokyo Office, and the Animation DO building in other locations.
Still puts about half their employees in their 1st Studio, which should show how important it was to them.
