In Kantai Collection, the player is addressed as "teitoku" (admiral), and in Azur Lane, the player is "shikikan" (commander).

half right. Different girls call the player either or in both games.

A lot of the Destroyers in Kancolle tend to call the player "Shikikan" while i notice a lot of the Battleships call the player "Teitoku".

Off the top of my head. Inazuma sisters vs Kongou sisters.

Many girls also address the admiral as shirei or shireikan, as well as a few others, like taicho. Not sure if it's the same in Azur Lane though.

The term "Shikikan" isn't used in Kancolle at all (unless one of the newer ships uses it (I kind of haven't played in a year)); they use "Shireikan" if at all.

It seems like shipgirls who call the player admiral were commanded by the real admirals in real life. Maybe that's why most Kancolle battleships use the word "Teitoku".

Some battleships in Kancolle, such as Hiei or Kirishima, still use the word "Shirei".

In kancolle. The shipgirls either call the player as "commander" (shireikan) or teitoku/admiral.

Azur lane. They call the player as shikikan which is also means commander.

I recall someone explain this long before.

Actually, KC Kiso also using shikikan in her Night Battle, but not for refering to her commander but for the enemies
