The real problem is that she was in a public pool. Do you have any idea how much of that water is actually piss and shit? I'm not trying to be a germaphobe but it's like going to a gas station bathroom except it doesn't smell like death.
Ironically, urine is actually fairly sterile. If bacteria have taken up residence in your urinary tract, you have or are going to have a rather painful problem. Bacteria, fecal and otherwise, are a problem, however, which is why they often load the water with chlorine.
