Tweezers are a really bad tool to do that. It is better to use a spatula. Yes the spatula is sharp, but you can push down on the gel less and slip the edge under the brim of the supports which ultimately reduces strain on the gel. Force is spread across the edge which reduces the chance of puncturing too. If you drag the spatula backwards across the film you can tell where the supports are due to the tactile bumps.
