The flow's gradually become more and more suspicious, right? :-)
It seems the motor just barely had the torque to be made to run at this ratio. If you search places like MonotaRO, they sell faster AC motors, but they go for ¥6K to nearly ¥10K, so naturally, I couldn't buy one. I'd have to prep an additional power supply if I went with a DC motor, so here we are.
I didn't have exactly what I needed for a pulley, either, so I cut up some MDF panels and made one myself. I cut up a welding-type elastic band to make the drive belt.
From around this point on, making stuff became more fun, so quietness became a secondary concern. Got them priorities backwards! :-)
