This dream trope isn't true, I've fallen off high places and hit the ground in my dreams before.
If that's the case, then a simpler way to get out of a lucid dream is to simply force yourself out.
That might sound like bulls&$% but I've found that when you have a lucid dream you really don't like, it tends not to last very long.
Of course, that method isn't very dramatic so jumping off a tall place it is.
