I think it's because of the anime that fans started to put them together.
Pretty muvh this. Belfast had made a solemn vow to make Enterprise a functioning adult and as such she's mothering the CV like no one's business which means the fans are shipping them like the navy.
I thought it was more on the lines of adding a touch of humanity rather than just being a killing machine so to speak
Considering that Enty isn't like that in the game itself, it sounds like they altered her personality just to give an excuse to put Belfast in the story. If they wanted to do that, then why does she have to be ordered to basically be Enty's servant? Can't they have a relationship of equals? Can't Bel just be concerned with Enty and want to help her?

Sorry, rant over.
Of course not. Shipping sells and higher ups are well aware of this. Especially yuri shipping since it caters more to both male and female viewers.
Just don't expect it to going beyond teasing the fans. Going the full relationship route will cause a rift in the fan base that can backfire.

I still get PTSD from what Kadokawa did in Kancolle to Ooi, Hiei and many other girls. Outright flanderizing them with their freaking Fandom Personalities.

The worst part? I can totally see both Belfast×Enterprise and Ooi×Kitakami not only work, but work better with their original personalities than their animé ones.

Me too, especially since Ooi got her in-game personality changed to something more one-dimensional because of it.

well in the anime there is no shikigan (I don't know if that is what the admiral is referring to in the game) to help her with her problem of being a war machine so it was up to someone to do that work XD and by lottery (joke) I touch Belfast.
I personally do not care if they get together I have no problem with those issues of yuri and others, besides both are my favorite ships and even if it is as serious as they put them together it is rare for what they are my favorites and I did not think they would end up together XD but I do not care.

blame all that nonsense on the fandom, long before the anime came around, none of the characters had *any personality* outside what the fans interpretation of their hourly secretary lines, there are *no story segments* in any Kantai Collection Map so there are no interactions. Conversely, the AL girls can and do comment on each other when sortied together, each map has a story line, and even the events have engaging interactions between the factions highlighted, and even the mini events used to showcase a new shipgirl has something that highlights how they think and work or clash with others. The anime has taken light liberties with the KANSEN in Azur Lane, but I'm of the opinion that the anime takes place before the events of the mobile game, mostly based on minor evidences, (such as Hood being active and Bismarck, while not shown n the anime but is in the OP, and both are canonically sunk after the tutorial stage.)

Some things never change, do they?
well they can't have the same personalities in the anime because there is no shikikan (or admiral to help them with their personality and problems lol) and in the anime they have to help each other to reach the personality that we all know as "original personality"

You were close, the commander is called Shikikan.
I agree with you, I like how they present these personalities and behaviors rooted in them and how they influence around them in the anime makes them more alive (well that's how I feel it) than what they show in the game XD. and thank you for telling me the name or as you say to the representation of one in the game xd.

You have an awful interpretation of what kind of maid Belfast is. She is more like, imposing forcefully her service to force Enterprise to live a healthy lifestyle than being a servant. For now, at least, Belfast has forced Enterprise to follow her rules, so if anyone has an upper hand in this relationship, it's the maid.
And as far as I can see, they do treat each other as equals.
Now, what are the canon personalities? We don't have the characters interacting a lot with each other in the game, for starters.
Would the fandom reactions to the anime be enough to convince the devs to patch out the player's ability to romance Enty, Belfast, Akagi, etc.? Or will they go the Littorio route and just canonized them as openly bisexual given their anime counterparts' character relationships? How much did Kantai's portrayals changed that about its featured characters, if at all?

They already added a unique line for Enty for when you sortie her with Bel. I would imagine there would be a few more nods to the animé like that, but I can't imagine the devs going any further, especially not patching out the romance mechanic. And personally, I like to imagine every KANSEN as bisexual.

The Kancolle anime didn't so much change personalities in that it canonized fan personalities.
Ooi wasn't a psychotic, yandere lesbian in the game. Nagato wasn't secretly a pedophile (Still isn't so that was one dodged bullet by those morons) or obsessed with cute things in the game. Haruna and Kirishima weren't Kongou-like goofballs in the game.
Meanwhile,. aside from Enterprise being more war weary ( a trait I hope she picks up in the game since she *is* still considered the Ace of Aces in the game, as well as being the Leader of the Eagle Union's forces; a position given to her crippled/sunken older sister and she should be tired from all that weight.) then her game self, all the established characters are acting as they were from the games.

The truth being what the girls are, I think that they least care about is who goes out with whoever they are first in a war that may kill them young people so who cares if you are of a certain sexuality the important thing is that they have someone who want or love.

For the record, I was questioning the possibility of the Devs being cruel enough to retcon the characters as fully lesbian so that the player is unable to romance them due to the anime's yuri subtext and its resulting popularity.

Considering that a big draw of the series is being able to romance the shipgirls, with a more complicated affection mechanic than KC's, and that Enty, Bel, and Akagi are three of the most popular and sought-after characters in the series, no.
I'm a little concerned about them changing Enty's personality to be more like her awkward, distant animé counterpart's, but I can't see it going further than that.
Enty's melodrama issues are getting a bit annoying, especially without shikikan to help her work through her issues. Now we have to wait 3 god damn months for the conclusion? What a botched anime release... from production issues to rushed deadlines, obviously. Prefer confident Enty from the game anyway.

That's what makes me love-hate Yuri because all it's is bait when they can and easily do it with guy-girl ships. Honestly it's mainly because men can't project themselves onto female characters, which's untrue . Yet to me projection is just as bad as cuckoldry and pedophilia. Heck just look at hentai and you'll see it based off how the guy is built like a body builder or is gross, fat, and has a torpedo dick. I find it stupid because you still don't get to fuck these girls. It's why I prefer Yuri because it feels more natural and I like to watch their relationship develop.

If anything it makes sense. How the heck would someone who doesn't and never will fight with you, understand how you feel and help you overcome those feelings unlike the other shipgirls who would know exactly what's wrong with each other. It's why I hate male projection and what it leads to ( basically all the girls being treated as sex toys and not people who we could empaths with. It's why I prefer Yuri )
