Depends. Against handgun/pistol calibers it'll do reasonably well. Assuming we're talking 9x18 Makarov considering the setting, a modern helmet would definitely help.

considering this post, that handgun is quite big even for someone of his stature so highly doubt it's just a Makarov

Probably a +P+ 9x19 in that case. Which makes it a bit of a toss-up depending on the exact material used in the helmet and the exact loading of the +P+ round.

If we go up in size the armor piercing ability of the rounds will actually start falling off until you start hitting the automag style chamberings, or are using something that's not exactly common in Eastern Europe/Russia/Neo Soviet Union.

Or it's an unnamed cartridge exclusive to KCCO and purpose built for anti-doll ops. In which case the helmet won't help, but work with what ya got, I guess.

The Russian AP stuff is supposed to rape the soft armor that helmets use, but supposedly the newer standards of helmets are a lot safer even against penetrators, to the point that some have stopped intermediate rifle rounds at relatively close range (under 200 yards). That being said, one LE agency I visited said they saw a lot of issues with UHMWPE based armor, and as far as I know the Army's ECH (but it's a full cut) is exactly that. So IDK.

Everyone loves the high cut helmets because they are comfortable and easy to put ear pro on and off fast, but I personally dislike them. They sacrifice side protection which IMO is really important if you expect any real resistance. Most issues with pressure on the head can be fixed by using a larger helmet size and the thicker 1" suspension padding. The greater standoff from the skull also is beneficial to surviving a strike IMO. The last helmet I used was a 3M, and it is frankly almost as light as most high cut helmets out there.

I've only ever worn an big standard ACH and wished to hell I had something with a higher cut rear just because of the way it would hit the rear/neck of my IBA and (later) IOTV when I was trying to make myself real small while shooting from the prone lol

EDIT: though come to think of it the issue might have been that the muscles on the side of neck to the shoulder (whatever the hell you call them) seem to slope upwards more than usual, meaning my body armor tended to ride kind of high in terms of where it sat in the neck area.

Level 3a helmets are rated to stop a 44 mag from 10 feet and with the crazy advancements with armor tech I believe a helmet would do her just fine. Considering an SFAB soldier took a 7.62x54r to the dome id say she would want it more than not.

you COMPLETELY forget that that helmet is gonna be on a head. you think your neck is gonna withstand such a punch? what good is a helmet, if after your skull is fine, your neck is broken in half?

Theres a video going around the internet with an american soldier taking a SVD shot to the helmet (he was fine). 7.62x54R carries a lot of energy but the helmet doesn't just absorb 3.5k joules of energy unless its a square hit, helmets are disigned sort of like tanks to make it hit at an angle. Plus theres additional padding on the inside.

If you get hit by lets say a .408 or 338 lap-mag then yes but not a .30 cal
