Why must they fight? If they combined their powers, they could seduce every woman on Earth. Given all the girls they BOTH sleep with, with no ill effects for either, they must have the pheromones of the GODS.
Though, honestly, if they must fight, my money is on Minato. Armageddon is an instant-win, plus he's like a master of every weapon style there is.
No... I can't really take the merchandise they churn out to make money that seriously. I'm going off the actual game. I mean, manga spin-offs and that sort of thing are nice but they're just fluff that the company release to make extra cash whereas the game is the actual "world", if you see what I mean.

They may have both been silent protagonists, but that doesn't mean they had NO personalities. Quite to the contrary, I'd say they both had plenty and were rather different. There's far more to a personality than what is said.
@BakaHoushi: They do exactly what you tell them to. The say exactly what you tell them to. They don't like or dislike anything. They have no opinions. They have no beliefs. They are just avatars.
The only way a smidgen of personality may make its way to them is via their appearances. In this case the P3 main character is probably the one with most "personality" in the sense that the P4 protagonist is designed to be as absolutely plain as possible, his main colour being grey and him having no distinguishing features whatsoever.
I have the Official Design Works and you can see them go from an earlier form of him where he actually has a strong expression on his face which implies a certain personality, all the way to the finished product with a totally plain, blank expression.
you seem to be overlooking the fact that they do have set choices on what to say and do for the characters. as well as ignoring the fact that there are right choices and wrong choices made within the game as well. for instance taking the Social Links into consideration. there are choices made with them that show both protagonists have a set personality considering the interaction with those characters. character design aside they do have a slight showing of personality to them. and at the same level for the both of them too.
Well put, Dragon Samurai. Indeed, the set choices do give off certain aspects of personality, as do characters' reactions to them. In P3, a lot of people talk about how the MC "doesn't say much." No one says this to the P4 MC. It's true that both characters are intentionally left with much open to interpretation (like lovers, and other in-game choices) but that hardly leaves them devoid of a personality. There's always at least a general mold to it.
