    持ってないと作業ができないので泣く泣く買うのです。
    リングスリーブ圧着工具なんて、試験以外で使いそうにないですけどね!(^^;)

    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 3333

I can't do the work if I don't have them, so I tearfully buy them. It doesn't seem like I'll ever use something like a ring sleeve crimper outside of the test, though! (^^;)

Reader-added tags so far consist of "Trap" and "Thoroughly".

And Kogasa thought he'd get away with the job with no costs

Yes, those tools can cost a bundle. I hope he remembers to buy insulated tools.

What the role of "water pipe pliers" for electrician? As ordinary pliers?
The only thing comes to my mind is holding and twisting cable's end.

Adjustable pliers are absolutely indispensable if you're doing any sort of work involving conduit. You don't want to destroy your fingertips tightening fittings all day by hand.

For someone who loves sniffing out bargains, Kogasa really doesn't know where to look for cheap tools, considering how they are only going to be used once or a few times at best.

The ringsleeve crimper and the VVF stripper can be purchased off Taobao or Aliexpress at about $10 - $20 apiece. Some even go for as low as $3 to $5. And they are of decent quality, too.

    Can't comment on the pliers.

The electrician's knife can be replaced with a simple boxcutter. And it strips cable better than the electrician's knife because of how thin and sharp the blade is. More importantly, disposable blades mean that the blade can be disposed when dull as opposed to needing proper tools for sharpening the electriciain's knife.

Basically as an ordinary pliers with a bonus of being variable.

As for shredding cables among locals at my place jamb knifes are used often. Especially if it is self made from some good steel strip - old rail hacksaw blades (~30-45 mm wide) are popular choices among those who know few things about sharpening stuff.

The angled handle gives you more torque than regular straight ones. I keep a pair in my toolbox, they're damned useful.
