Hmm. So when you sleep here, you create a dream duplicate of yourself, and based on Otter's lines here, when you die in your dream you die in real life!!
Waking yourself up functions as a reset, with the drawback of the usual trouble of remembering dreams.

Edit: weD's comment makes sense too, and maybe better sense since all the beds we see are filled. While everyone could have wandered into the nap room, it seems a bit unlikely.
On Twitter abubu wonders if it's better to make it a one-time thing (though I'm not sure if he doesn't mean us seeing the room), so the room being filled in advance and Otter having to find herself makes sense. But did Anomalous Otter get the standby, too, if she's ready to burn the emergency save?

I think it's more that this room has sleeping duplicates of people in the complex, and if you wake yourself up, you become a dream (and disappear) while the awakened clone goes on to continue being you.
Which, I guess, is not that much different from the above, except you don't have to go to sleep here.

That was my first thought about this room when I saw earlier post. The question on if the dreamer was really the original or not a duplicate and that the one fading out as a dream was real except for the anomaly of the room. Does mean for those who know about this room, it's also a backup means of restoring someone without relying on the cloning room. Just make sure not to wake yourself.

Looks like A. Otter took out some revenge on the giant otter group. Must be a really desperate situation if the standby otter had to escape death and rely on this room.

I don't know about the backup otter, but this Otter had her legs disabled. She can't reach the 9 buttons to get to the cloning elevator floor. I guess she can't reach her apartment either.

Edit:Seems to be the bottle otter.

Not just her legs. Judging by the placement of the flowers, she took three hits from A!Otter. One apiece to the legs, and a third to the sacrum/ lower lumbar vertebrae. Things must have gone REALLY tits up in the encounter for it to be the bottle otter to survive instead of the map otter. I think this is also the most verbose we have seen a member of the squad being.

Edit: Oh goddamit, I just got the meaning of this piece's title. If you're in mortal danger/ dying, if you can make it to this room it basically lets you escape the immediate danger via "It was just a dream".

Not like the ideas haven’t already been used elsewhere, so I don’t think it is bad. For a lot of these kinds of ideas what makes them good or bad is how the story using them utilizes them. Poor execution of “good ideas” can easily make them bad.

Love how each new page answers one or two questions, but also creates just more questions.

Actually, I pointed a DM that is running a Lovecraft-insipired game to this very pool... (Note: A gray bag of tricks makes a very effective and reusable rat bottle!)

    Hahaha... I must find myself.
I couldn't imagine I'd have to rely on this place...
