If you attack a cucco enough times in Zelda, the result will be a crapton of invulnerable ones coming at you. Only way to get it to stop is leave the area and come back, and they can very easily kill a new, unprepared player.
I thought it was a Skyrim reference at first... Attacking a chicken will automatically make you the worst possible criminal in the eyes of everyone around and all NPCs will gang up on you.
