Happy 1st Anniversary @NIJISANJI_ID !!! I'm glad i made it in time, was scared that i was gonna be late :"D Also welcome new members to the family!! #2434ID_Anniv1st
Why do you think Nijisanji became second fiddle to Hololive? I know they've had plenty of success in their own right, and Hana is my favorite non Hololive vtuber, but they haven't really become a phenomenon like Hololive has.

Do you think is cause Nijisanji is over-saturated? Nijisanji has almost twice as many members as Hololive, which means there are a lot more vtubers who just don't stand out.

Partially true, individually most Nijisanji livers don't look like they are as successful as Hololive, but I mean if you add up the grand total of Hololive's VS Nijisanji's sub count and superchat income compare them, I'd bet Nijisanji would win out.
Nijisanji aren't necessarily less successful by any stretch, most of their big names(Mito, Kuzuha, Honhima, Kanae, etc) gets as much concurrent viewers as Hololive.
Nijisanji just doesn't look as successful because of the lower individual sub count and because they're far less known overseas, but that's just more or less just more or less thanks to Hololive hitting jackpot on overseas Youtube algorithm just when lockdown went into effect and suddenly almost all of the oversea anime fanfom starts hungering for hours and hours of anime contents, contents which seasonal animes weren't able to provide exactly because of the pandemic.
Additionally, the reason Hololive won the western algorithm game is because of their upload schedule. Currently I believe all of the Hololive members are full-time Vtubers, which means they can either make multiple hour-long uploads per day(Fubuki, Subaru), or 4+ hour marathons multiple times a week(Korone, Watame), both of which are algorithm darlings. On top of that they also have the advantage of dedicated bilingual livers(Coco, Haachama) ones mingling with western memes(Fubuki), or ones streaming in western-friendly hours(Korone and Watame again) which adds extra channels for westerners to jump in.
A lot of Nijisanji livers, on the other hands, are part-time. This means they either work as Vtuber on top of their regular work(Gundou, Yashiro), or still needs another part time job to make ends meet(almost everyone under 150K subs), which means for a lot of them even daily upload can be tough and some can make do with uploading only once a week or two. It doesn't matter as much because with sheer numbers of Livers, Nijisanji can be sure that they can still provide just as many hours of content for their audience as Hololive, if not more. Though this just means that individually, Nijisanji won't trip up the algorithm as well, especially not for one outside of Japan. As of current, Nijisanji still doesn't have a dedicated bilingual liver(many of them do speak good English, but none dedicated to hitting over 50% western viewership like Coco), and almost none of them touch western memes or stream at western-friendly times. Not even the ID or IN Livers stream at those hours. Hopefully this will change when Nijisanji EN comes out.
