    速見艦隊の日常

    秋霜初登場ですが、速見提督の所の秋霜です。
    また空自のF-4 は今年度いっぱいで百里からも退役し、全機退役となるとかなんとか。
    ちょいちょい501のF-4は飛んでるの見たりしたので、ちょっぴり寂しい感じもしますね。
    (最近はF-2が飛んでるのでそっちに気移り。青くてカッコイイからね。しかたないね)

    作中用語の補足↓
    LAPES：低高度パラシュート抽出システムの略。派手でカッコイイ。けど危ない。
    DACT：異機種間戦闘訓練。機種の違う機体同士で空中戦等の訓練をすること。普通は基本性能の高い方が有利。ただし格闘戦であれば搭乗員と僚機の技量次第で十分戦える。

    It's mostly because... there are a bunch of real-life modern military terms that intimidate translators. Often these are hard to research too.

    Also various references to real-life 'current' events like the retiring of the F-4 Phantoms (one of the main points of this comic). Back then I looked around on the Japanese interwebs, but was still unsure about the specifics of what they're talking here, so I left this untranslated.

    Overall... yeah, this is one of the harder series to translate, which is why there are many untranslated gaps.

    (And this is coming from a total Gundam scrub who somehow managed to locate nearly all the obscure Gundam and giant mecha references for Ishiyumi's G-Spring Goddess series. Researching for Hisamura Fleet... much harder, because these are more current stuff and since the 'military' is involved a lot of those are kinda hush-hush or filled with unconfirmed speculation when one looks up Japanese BBSes.)
