Kinda the same reason why English dubs change the names of several Japanese characters (Pokemon: Ash or Satoshi) or differ how they call each other (Bleach: Ichigo and Uryu calling each other by their last names in Japanese, but by their first names in English).

Some translators keep names the same, others don't. Typically comes back to preferences.
