    It's the military. It's full of rivalries that generally turn out to be pointless.

    Back in WWII, the pilots of CarDiv1 (Akagi and Kaga) and CarDiv5 (Shoukaku and Zuikaku) had an intense rivalry based on the following:
    1 had the experienced, veteran pilots, but the older carriers couldn't handle the newest planes.
    5 had relatively rookie pilots, but all the newest toys.
    Both groups held a sense of elitism in their respective advantages.
