Doesn't it kinda mess up the timeline if Dawn/Lucas' ancestor catches Arceus before Dawn/Lucas do in DP/BDSP?
I had always assumed their time travel is more like the DBZ or Avenger version where its more of parallel or alternative timeline, since the game itself already does that much of the time via the remakes. ORAS already did something like that, with the idea that their world is another version, as well as most of the mystery Dungeon games Explorer of time/darkness/sky showed that even after preventing the screwed up future, the future where Primal Dialga was still existed as well as the other timey, wimey bullshit.
I assume since more than one Dialga and Palkia exist (Heartgold/Soulsilver), that as long as they keep existing they become a main pillar of time and space that can’t just be erased even if some dumb kid ever happen to go back in time and step on a Caterpie or something, changing the future where Pokemon Hitler and Nazis win the Second Pokemon World War ala Wolfinstein.
Also, outside of gameplay, most of these legendaries more allow themselves to be caught than you actually catching them. As well as I doubt the oldtime had actual modern day Pokeball systems so the whole “catching” will probably be closer to Pokemon Conquest where the trainers bonds with said pokemon and stuff. Come to think of it, I wonder if this takes place during, before or after Pokemon Conquest.
There's also my extremely outside the ballpark pet theory, based a little bit on the TCG and on the Pokedex entires, that each "Arceus" we see is only a single one of the thousand hands of the "True" Arceus who created the universe. If you look at Arceus' design I think it does look a little bit like a hand, with the head and limbs being of similar shape (they're the "fingers"), and the pointed hooves are even kind of like fingernails.

We don't really know what happens to Pokémon when their trainers die (maybe there is something in the anime but the games?) So, maybe they just release themselves and it seems these games don't just take place 60 years or so prior to DPPT. So, this Dawn is probably dead once DPPT comes around.
