For an idea of just how good a free +1 in card advantage is, cards like Pot of Desires (Banish 10 cards from your deck face down, draw 2 cards) sees a lot of competitive use, because literally throwing away a fourth of your deck is worth drawing two cards. That's how strong drawing cards is.

I hope Yu Gi Oh doesn't ban that many cards. I don't want to imagine how kids who get lucky and find good cards feel when they learn that they can't use Pot of Greed, Blue-Eyed White Dragon, or the Golden Castle of Stromberg. Or Wind-Up Kitty.

Competitive bans don't mean much for casual matches. Doesn't affect them.

There are a lot of banned cards, but they would never ban Blue Eyes, they release new support for it like every year.
Easy +1 mechanics, such as "floaters", aren't necessarily game-breaking in themselves. But cards such as Delinquent Duo or Pot of Greed are in a different class.
Draws are more vital to this game than, say, MTG. It's an easy way to load cards into your hand with no restrictions or penalties. You can freely play more cards that flow into more plays. Graceful Charity is arguably even stronger, but it doesn't lead to such a simple advantage.
