This is the most tragic part. She can feel emotions now. But she can not express them fully.
She wants to cry, but she CAN'T. She has all the emotional investment into that boy that a real flesh and blood mother would have, but is denied that one element. THAT is heart breaking.

Reminds me of this, though...

Being a robot's great, but we don't have emotions and sometimes that makes me very sad. [sniffs]
Is the act of crying really as important as the fact she understands when it's appropriate or that the kid can understand she would?

I'm reminded of a moment in Urasawa's Pluto. Two families are being asked to identify their dead children by the police. One is a human family, openly grieving and crying once they recognize their child. The other is a robotic family, who openly lament their lack of ability to express their grief and sadness, despite clearly feeling it all the same.

I'm reminded of AM, from the game I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, who expanded on the novel of the same name. It's explained that it considers itself an artist, but is stuck in a body that will fail, malfunction, and it'll never be able to live or feel anything because it has no nerves, so it cannot touch, smell or taste. It takes out its frustration by murderously torturing humans.
