"Samus's encounters with several parasitic alien organisms has left us to wonder just how much is left of the human. We can only hope the Samus entity remains on our side."
Definitely feels like this should be in a pool with "hindsight" in the name. Not sure which one though.
Why? This picture didn't predict anything. She's had other DNA in her since fusion. Maybe even the original games since I vaguely remember her old lore included a transfusion of chozo blood or something like that.

You're actually not too far off. The chozo I fused her with their DNA to help her survive the harsh environment of Zebes

The ending of dread, man. Before leaving the planet she literally transforms into a human-metroid hybrid. And with the way we can only see her eyes through the helmet visor, she might as well loot EXACTLY like this pic at that moment.
Although I don't think that was ever actually revealed until the comics that were released to promote zero mission.
It was in the Nintendo Power magazine comic run to promote Super Metroid, something that was never canon to begin with. Like, super non-canon, majorly contradicting the events of Super Metroid. However, elements were lifted from it for better or worse. For example, "better" would be her backstory and the character Old Bird. Worse would be how her power suit works and her exaggerated attachment to the hatchling. I mean, "the baby". Samus is easily taken out in the comic because she's worried about the baby. A lone pirate trooper gives her a hard time and she gets skewered by a trap, arguably just as bad as the worst examples of character derailment and *worfing* in Other M.
I don't think it's wrong to say that Samus is the worst developed of all "main" Nintendo characters.
