If you can't collab with Hololive, so you collab with another idol group.

Just heard from friends, is it true you can't marry these Idols on this collab? sorry for asking.

Yeah, you can't oath ring them. You'll need a new specialized item called 'Unity Tiara' to bond them.

I'm wondering if I even want those units, since I'm not an Idolmaster fan and barely know the girls.

But then again, I did get all DoA girls and barely knew them either...

Except you can't marry any of the real idols.

This whole 'can't marry an idol' thing sure has become something really ingrained in fans, to the point it carries to be a problem like this in the spinoffs collabs.

iM@s being older franchise and having more fans than AL doesn't help. If they actually went and made oathing any of the units possible, the backlash from Idolmaster fans would be SEVERE.

I would've thought being able to oath them would appeal more. I wouldn't care about other people being able to oath them, but I'd certainly like to do so if I could.

    We live in a society...
... in which crazy fans of voice actors are known for attempting to kill said voice actors if they marry...
... in which crazy fans threaten to kill artists that draw their idolized characters in contexts they don't like, and so on...

If the company opted to not take risks, I fully understand.

Well, at least I'm familiar with the whole Idolm@ster franchise (and actually like them), so I'm looking forward to this collab. That and I'm a bit burned out with AL recently, thus I want something new.
Don't really care about this "can't oath them" thing though. What's important to me is to finish this event and get all of the collab chars as many as I could.

(But then again, I actually like idols and their musics, J-Pop or K-Pop, so I'm not as apathetic as some others.)

In addition to the obvious dipshittery of disturbed individuals doing this kind of shit, the IM@S fanbase is super vindictive
If Manjuu tried to get away with letting you actually oath the girls in-game it'd very likely sink the entire game in Japan

cutting off that income/revenue branch for the sake of a single event/banner isn't worth it. As is, they're set to make this the best-selling event on the JP server just through nostalgia value to the hardcore otaku

We may not like it but between these people being insane enough to try and do actual harm to the VAs and/or devs and the fact that by skipping the issue with the Tiaras they're gonna make a truckload of money off of them, this is just the practical thing to do

I think it's also a reference to established idol protocols (especially with AKB48 and its sister groups) that they are not allowed to have boyfriends while under contract, let alone be married. Those are grounds for forced graduation.

Though part of the reasoning may also be to avoid acrimonious instances of irate IM@S fans crying foul over AL players "stealing waifus" by way of the oath system.
Let's be honest, oathing gives off a certain connotation that once you give them a ring, coupled with a marriage ceremony graphic to boot, she is "claimed" by a singular party. And this mere thought is sure to make IM@S loyalists take to the streets and chat boards. If Chinese HI3 fans raiding MiHoYo's HQ was bad enough, imagine the shitstorm if it happens to Bandai Namco and/or Yostar in Japan.

Yeah I know those people... The worse bunch of the "idol-fan base" despite people state they're just a "minority" they tend to be very loud.

It's not like I wasn't aware of how batshit insane some obessesive fans are but reading these comments just really make me wonder how one can claim to be a fan of something while actively trying to undermine it because they can't handle their fictional waifus being taken away from them in any shape or form.

Reminds me of the fanbases for Doctor Who and Transformers. A lot of those people can be serious scum.
