So, first off, I'm not 100% happy with the proverb/saying I went with here (and then subsequently mangled, because, yeah, Rino), but it was really the closest thing I could think of. The original Japanese proverb, "鬼に金棒", equates to something along the lines of "improving on something that was already good by adding more to it". I struggle with this kind of thing, so suggestions for something better are welcome.

And then Donna Donna is a Yddish theater song about a calf being led to slaughter. I think the connection to the comic should be clear just from that explanation.

I had considered that originally (and my mind being on cake is probably why I ended up with what I did), but in my mind that idiom always equated more to "completion", rather than "improvement". The Merriam-Webster definition and example make for a compelling argument, though, so I think I'll go ahead and swap it out. At least since it still deals with cake, I don't have to put any additional thought into how Rino can misconstrue the idiom.
