There is one more Endless episode to go. It's Suzumiya Haruhi no Groundhog Day, or Window of Opportunity.

Might as well ask while this is up, since I haven't watched any of this. What exactly is everyone's problem with the Endless Eight story arc?

You know how in Groundhog Day, Bill Murray's character tries to kill himself multiple times after repeating the same day over and over again?

    Yeah.

Anyone who tells someone else that they SHOULDN'T watch something is a dipshit.

Either watch it or don't, but don't let some dumbass on the internet form your opinion for you.

Well, I've had my fill of time travel hijinks in any media. Maybe I'll look around for some better summary of the arc, but at the base level, this just doesn't sound appealing to me.

At least Groundhog Day had variety. This is the same thing over and over and over. They basically just change the outfits, make one part a little longer or a little shorter. Latest episode I watched in 3 minutes. This was one of the few scenes that caught my attention.

It's just best to read the ~39 page short story of Endless Eight and avoid the train wreck present in the anime.

Actually in Groundhog Day the townspeople acted in the exact same way every time (unless deviated by Bill Murray actions). Window of Opportunity (Stargate SG1 season 4, episode 6) had variation that was in line with chaos theory which is Endless Eight is showing. There is variation.

Pity the fool if he listens to me, then.

But it's the very actions of Bill Murray's character that give each day its uniqueness - each day varying quite wildly when compared to Endless Eight. Is there a reason you're overlooking this?

Yes, there is a reason. If Bill Murray did the exact same thing, all of the actions of the town would repeat in exactly the same fashion. But I am speaking of factors outside the control of the characters, which in Groundhog Day are the same every single loop.
In Endless Eight there are differences, no matter how slight, in the loop.

There are 14 new episodes this series. So far more than half of them have been Endless Eight.

Sigh, you're talking about a "what if" scenario. The movie got its positive reviews and is currently a part of the US National Film Registry because it's actually enjoyable and not repetitive. Changing the angle of the same scenes, slightly different but largely inconsequential dialogue, as well as the occasional "hey, didn't this happen before?" moments don't really change the fact that we've been watching the same thing multiple times now. The only saving grace for Endless Eight now is a significant change in the final episode of the arc, but it still doesn't change the fact that KyoAni could've done its fanbase a favor and cut down on the episodes - you know, maybe squeeze two repetitions into an episode or something.

Really, just because it's "in line with chaos theory" doesn't mean it's any less boring than what the current outcry from viewers suggests.

I never said I didn't like the movie. I own the VHS and DVD (the VHS has long since been worn out). It is a great black comedy and one of Bill Murray's best roles.
