More like have sex at Olive gardens, if you don’t want to become the main meal during sex. The cannibalism occurs during said sex since the activity itself uses a ton of energy, like in real life, and insects like mantids metabolize like crazy and the sex itself is just sex for the sake of procreation meaning their mate is just another creature coming in from behind. Like if you run up to some random really big chick with a taste for both meats and decide to prob her from behind. You might as well bring a midget friend in at that case.
