    No we would. Asuka and Shinji are actually not that different. I mean, yeah we make the joke about how Shinji cries like a bitch but if I had to be Shinji or Asuka, I'd rather not be the one who's busy bottling their trauma every chance they get instead of choosing to connect with people, allowing them to be a perfect mindrape victim to a particular Angel. Shinji at least attempts to get his act together when the cards are down, and that's what's great about him: he chooses to find some meaning in his life even when he tells himself that there's no way it's okay for him to be in this world.
