I couldn't agree less.
...Well, I suppose I COULD agree less if you had said Setzer was the only guy for her. Out of all the dudes in that game, Setzer was the biggest douche.
And if you're talking about the DS remake in the near future...what the hell's wrong with you? I'd get in on that action in a heartbeat.
IIRC, she didn't really form much of a relationship with most, if any of the main characters in the game. At least, not beyond, "Yeah, the Empire is bad. We should stop them and stuff."

You've just reminded me how terrible FF6's scenario writing was. Game needs a full-on rewrite ala the upcoming Estpolis/Lufia relaunch.

Eh, I don't know if I'd go that far. The Esper subplot should definitely be axed--as far as Terra's backstory and the whole "get them to side with us" quest in the first half of the game goes. Maybe make most of the side-characters optional in the World of Balance too. Otherwise, I think most of the game could survive intact with a little tweaking and tuning.

Not like they wanted it to be gimped; it's just consequence of Nintendo's weak portable audio. They did tweek things, though the only thing I remember is making the opera vocals sound more like, y'know, vocals.
I'd love to see the game remade, with modern graphics, remixed music... but most of all, with enriched story elements.
Voice acting, facial emoting, and cinematic cutscenes would do a lot to enrich the story with nuances even the original game (with its amazing desing) couldn't provide.
