This depicts how Japanese honey bees respond to Asian giant hornets. A small group of Asian giant hornets are able to wipeout an entire honey bee hive within a matter of hours, which is why they are so devastating to beekeepers using European honey bees. The Japanese honey bee has evolved a defensive behavior in response to giant hornet scouts. Instead of try to ineffectively attack the giant hornet scout when the bees detect them, they instead lure the scout into their nest and then swarm it forming essentially a ball of bees around it. Within the ball the bees are able to raise the temperature to 46°C (115°F) which is a lethal temperature for Asian giant hornets, while the bees themselves are able to withstand a few degrees higher temperature which is why the same thing doesn't kill them.
