I say, give it time. They might decide to sex things up a bit later on when it really matters. Let them introduce the cast first and then see how the studios portray the first major mission/adventure/arc.

The anime was the same as the manga. Sure Natsu's fire was a bit different with the magic circles and the voice didn't seem to fit his image at first, but other then that what's wrong? So far it's been f'ing awesome.
