Why am I not as invested in Tempus as I am with the NijiEN boys? Members like Vox, Luca, and Fulgur made me realize that I'm fine with male vtubers if I find them entertaining enough, yet somehow none of the clips I've seen from Tempus have impressed me to the point where I want to subscribe to them. Is there something that the Nijisanji boys have that Tempus doesn't or have I just not watched enough of Tempus to see the charm of them?

How many times has he made a comment like that now? What's even the point? Is he genuinely expecting someone to provide some sort of magical insight that'll turn his opinions around, or does he just actually need someone to spell out to him that he's just not into them? I've never seen anyone initiating this kind of discussion actually come away feeling any differently than they did before (I don't think he did the other times he asked this pointless question either). It just ends up being a waste of time trying to sell something to someone who's already decided they aren't interested, but asked for it anyway.
If all you've watched is clips, and not felt inclined to give any full streams a chance based on those, then it seems pretty safe to me that they just aren't your cup of tea. That's all it is. You don't need to enjoy every single member of the ever growing Vtuber list. If you somehow feel like you should enjoy them, then you should probably try watching an actual stream and figure that out yourself, instead of asking people to do it for you, only to argue with them about it like you did last time you asked this exact same question about a vtuber.

This. Different strokes for different folks.

The view that "I don't feel entertained watching them, clearly it's because they are fundamentally lacking something or they can charm me, I just haven't seen it yet" is pretty shamelessly egoistical and self-centered.

Like, clips are usually the best moments of a given stream, if you're watching clips, and they aren't enticing you, what could anyone possibly have to tell you that you don't already know?
It's like instead of being bothered by a door-to-door salesman, you go to their house, and insist they try to sell you their product, despite having already decided you aren't interested in buying it.
I'm not entirely sure it's so much "Vtubers have gotten worse" as it is "clippers have gotten worse". Part of the problem is, like with the Touhou fandom, Vtuber fandoms are almost completely obsessed with either memes, fanservice, or some kind of edgy AU, and the Vtubers themselves are doing the same. All of these Vtubers are talented people, they're just going for same kind of cynical, sarcastic humor you see far too often in Western media, and what most people watch Vtubers to escape from.
I dunno what Vtubers you're watching, cause none of the ones I'm watching are like that. Not even sure I've ever seen a clip of "cynical, sarcastic humor" coming from anyone in Hololive. Can't speak for Niji or most indies, though.

Once. This has only happened once. I just wanted to hear what the people who do really like them have to say. There are plenty of Vtubers who I weren't interested in at first that I grew to like over time and that can very well happen with Tempus. I'm already somewhat interested in Vesper just not to the point where I want to subscribe to him.

What are you talking about? I didn't argue with anyone the last time I asked this. I asked for people's opinion, you gave me yours, and then I asked another question to see if I can get more insight. That wasn't arguing that was trying to trying to carry on the conversation.

Sometimes but not always. Having a 40 seconds clip of just a single joke's punchline is clearly a very different experience than watching the whole stream and either have the joke caught you off guard or just getting a fuller context of the joke. Not to mention many casual conversations which clippers might not find to be "clippable" enough but nevertheless helps you to know the streamer better.
Tempus so far has fall under the 2nd category a lot. They do have a few "memey punchline jokes" like Maggin and Axel being a furry and whatnot, but other than that they're more laid back and casual at the moment. Especially since Holopro has the 1 month collab ban thing, they have no choice but to stick to themselves for now and try to find their own streaming style first, VS new Nijisanji members who can immediately jump into the chaos from the get-go.

I went back to that old conversation, I must have mixed it up with another one (it's exceptionally common, you see it regularly on the Steam forums for example, and it's never productive). Apologies.

That might have something to do with it. I remember the reason I subscribed to Ike was that I saw him appear on Selen's stream where he had really good chemistry with her, so I decided to watch him also. And I subscribed to Alban because I saw the TTT collab and liked how much energy he brought to everything. Also I watched some more Axel clips today and my opinion of him has changed somewhat: I don't think I'll subscribe to him now but I can see myself subscribing to him in the future.
