It does look a bit sad. If her flame remains lit, she melts away, but if its blown out... She disappears in darkness. What a double edged sword...

Not to flame anyone here, but I think you're all misunderstanding the picture.

She actually has quite the fiery personality.

She candle anything she sets her mind to, though she often uses this hot-headedness for wicked purposes.

It's more like the old way of saying "I've got an idea" and in cartoons you'd see a lightbulb brighten above the head. Maybe this means she bright.

Usually if the candle is used instead of the light bulb, it's to indicate the character is a bit dim and/or behind the times.
