Marianne is the daughter of an unmentioned noble within the Leicester Alliance. At 14 years old, her parents mysteriously died and she was adopted by a distant relative, the lord of the remote Margraviate of Edmund.

Hilda is the only daughter and youngest child of House Goneril. Her older brother, Lord Holst, ascended to head of the family and made a name for himself as Leicester's greatest general.
