Mima/Yuuka vs Luna Child and Sunny Milk.. Sounds like the non-bosses are just meant to be semi-warmup for the higher end bosses / playable characters..
I guess that's what Patches was happy about in the last page or something since I cant read unless it's translated. Hey having a powerhouse that you also know like Meiling is a good thing. Unless she gets lazy and falls asleep... but Sakuya is the enemy in the match, maybe Pachi was freaking out instead.
It's like in Dragon Ball Z when Vegeta and Goku were to fight first round in the tournament during the Buu saga. The pairings themselves are epic.
Now looking at it, there's also Kanako+Hina and Yuugi+Komachi. This should get pretty awesome.
Kinda disappointed that Nazrin gets screwed so early though. She has to go against Reimu + Yuyuko, and if by some MAGICAL UNPRECEDENTED force of will by the artist Nazrin + Shizuha win, they'd go up against Yuuka + Mima right after.
I wouldn't be to sure about that. Think about it for a second. Everyone is going to bet on Yuuka and Mima. Therefore if they bet on Sunny and Luna and then purposely throw the fight, they would piss everyone off and take all their money.
Some of this teams are like a joke: eirin+medicine = medic? yuuka+mima = screw the rules, i have the green hair. yuugi+komachi = breast fight. Koiji+Mokou = Extra Boss + ONE-CHAN. Reimu+Yuyuko = Eternal Hunger.
Cirno vs Daiyousei's battle going to produce lots of tears for us, GO KANAKO-sama KICK SOME ASS!, MimaxYuka spells big trouble!, Meiling vs Sakuya it was going to happen.
Yuka/Mima vs Sunny/Luna? The only thng i hope is those two mischievous fairies don't play any tricks that may cause the other two to snap and making a lot of fertilizers

I'm going to say if they manage to pull tricks. Victory goes to them. Remember, Sunny/Luna aren't complete morons, and they have a pair of very fun powers to work with. There is also a very simple solution that one could argue happens ONLY with a Mima/Yuka pairing.
They've still got a chance versus the two in theory. Though, I'm afraid it'll just be a pointless 'Mima/Yuka win' shot and move on. Poor Three Fairies get so little respect.

Well, there's some possibility that the 2 mischievous fairy could make Yuka and Mima fight each other and ends up winning but seeing that the winner of that battle will probably fight Reimu/Yuyuko(Can't imagine a way for Sizuha/Nazrin to possibly win) i think Yuka/Mima would still win to make a fairer and more awesome fight

Sunny can manipulate the refraction of light, so in the right weather she can make someone see whatever she wants them to see. Even Reimu can be completely fooled by their powers. Luna can manipulate sound. Throw those two together and you can get some pretty crazy and unpredictable crap.
Not sure if their powers will work on Yuka and Mima though. Canonically, the three fairies combined power didn't work on Reisen or Komachi.
Can someone explain to me why the hell Yuuka and Mima are so overrated? Honestly, what makes them so freaking uber? Shikieki could take them both out by herself, and EASILY. And that's just her. There's plenty of characters who are stronger than each of them individually. I honestly have never gotten why people love to think Yuuka's so powerful. I realize she's strong canonically but nowhere near the extent the fandom hypes her up to.
Well, in her Mystic Square profile, it calls her "One of the strongest youkai living around Hakurei Shrine".
In her Kioh Gyoku profile, it says "Also, after Mystic Square's extra ending, as planned, Yuuka received the ultimate magic. The author himself doesn't know exactly what it is." In addition to the whole youkai moe thing.
In Perfect Memento in Strict Sense, she's continuously called strong and dangerous from the start to the end of the entry, more so than anyone else despite also being called polite.
And I guess since she was the original user of the Master Spark and Double Spark, without needing something like the Hakkero, that makes her come across as very strong as is.
Mima doesn't have as much references but she is/was Marisa's teacher and has been around since Touhou wasn't even a danmaku game. While it's not canon, a lot of people like to simply believe that the Twilight Spark from Touhou Soccer is within her arsenal.
Although she is an evil spirit that looks vastly different from the evil spirits in SA and Nature Hermit so we can at least say she's strong enough to have an actual form. Doesn't automatically mean that she's on the same levels as Yuuka, Shiki or Yukari of course.
Like hell is this random. Every powerful character is either saddled with a much weaker one, or someone that's going to be very hard for them to work with effectively as a team. Reimu and Yuyuko is the only real exception to that that I can see.
Also, Yuuka and Mima the two spark users versus someone who can bend light. Don't let me down here, lil fairy.
