Oh, there's a stated reason alright -- two Dex entries back. Tinkaton line has it out for metal-eaters the moment they're no longer baby, because of all the times they got their little hammer stolen while baby . . . which is often enough that it's half of Tinkatink's entry in Scarlet. Which, personally, makes the whole situation all the more fun -- this isn't just getting mad at birds, it's getting even. : V
