I dont get why people can really hate these fan characters when characters like Cirno-nee can be so loved. These characters were also born from other characters, they are just different enough to be their own character as all. For instance, Meimu is obviously a alternate Reimu and Cirno-nee is Cirno. But at least these fan characters can establish themselves.
Also, the title for this game, 釣想天, is the same as SWR (Hisouten, 悲想天), but with the first kanji replaced with "tsuri", which can mean "fishing"... or "trolling".

If there is a troll... So Mitori will simply BAN the one who made the incident.

just a guess, but I'd say the reason why they're disliked is because unlike characters who are an adaptation of a canon one (Cirno-nee is just Cirno of the future, if I'm not mistaken), these are pretty much mary sues. And no one likes mary sues.

So they're mary sues just because they're original characters?
Bullshit, not all OC's are Mary Sues, I got about 50 Touhou OC's alone, and I can assure you, their not mary sues.
God, I hate that "all OC's are mary sues" mentality....
I have a theory, though keep in mind it is just a theory. But I somehow feel that a large amount of the hate is fans feeling that these originals are taking too much attention away from preestablished. Granted I cannot truly say if they are mary sues or not as I don't know jack about most of them and I'm still learning about the normal characters in the first place. Frankly I don't give a damn, if they're interesting then fine (I'm actually rather fond of the kids from kyouno's Boys and Girls doujin for example), if they aren't or are just there to be overpowered and bland then I ignore them and get on with my life. This is just something that fans do and once a series hits a certain popularity its bound to happen.

Agreed, I don't have a problem with them. I have a problem with bland color swaps people do like the "Meimu" you mentioned and pass them off as a whole seperate entity. At least these original characters can establish themselves like you said and actually have creativity.
One thing I don't get is... instead of making OCs in the Touhou verse, why don't people use their creativity to make original characters in their own setting? IMO, making new characters based in a preexisting verse is just lazy.
Characters like Cirno-nee are not really new characters, just new interpretations of pre existing characters, which constitutes about 99% of all Touhou stories. It's when people make OCs and expect them to be recognized as part of Touhou that people start to get angry.
If you have a creative drive, go make a whole new universe. Don't fall back on someone else's work.

Actually, I'm making my own book series right now, called HellFire Cartharsis.
But, to be honest, I just like making OC's. No real reason beyond that.

You're a couple of thousand years too late with that piece of advice. Accretion played a big part in oral literature--that is, building on someone else's work.

i dont think its lazy i think its fun to think up how your character can fit in with all the touhou characters without contridicting the story and then you also get think of spellcard names and such i think it would a fun challenge i doubt these people want you to treat them like real touhou people they just got popular cuz im sure these are not the only OC's i just think they were having fun
To all the people raging about how nobody likes their OCs and how they're not at all different from these characters: Do you see a 3-paragraph character bio for any of them? Spell Card names? Even a signature or "ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL" written anywhere? That's because these characters caught on the same way most Touhou characters do: By people filling in the blanks. Stop getting so butthurt. It's called Trolling Weather Rhapsody for a reason.

Simple. If you make a fan character. Differentiate from source character material.
