Either that or it was a failed fusion.

Or maybe nothing is wrong at all and you guys don't remember DBZ since its been so long? All fusions made with the Fusion Dance have that Arabic-styled outfit. Gotenks and Trunks clothes combined (as well as Vegeta and Goku's clothes combined) wouldn't make such an outfit but that's always what they got whenever they became Gotenks or Gogeta.
It's only if you fuse with the Potarra Earrings that the fusion gets a combined version of both characters' outfits (Vegetto's outfit was a combination of Goku's and Vegeta's).
