Photos should only be tagged with the character being cosplayed and cosplay photo.
Edit: To clarify, I'm not responding to redtails' post about the artist tags. There's nothing wrong with tagging cosplayers as artists. Just pointing out that according to the wiki, adding "X_(cosplay)" tags to cosplay photos is incorrect. (This image had tags like that until I removed them.)

I fail to understand the logic. Can you explain why we wouldn't tag cosplay as cosplay, without citing the wiki?

As far as I can tell, the reason for that rule was laid out way back in topic #3284. I don't agree with the reasoning for it, but it is the rule, and if you want to change a rule that affects hundreds of posts across the entire site, the comments on an individual post really aren't the place for it. There is a forum for discussing these things.

My understanding has always been that it's because real-world cosplay is considered an artistic medium (with the cosplayer as artist), not a part of the fictional content of the picture. That is, a drawing by artist Q of character W cosplaying character Xcontains both W and X_(cosplay) (drawn by Q), while a photo of cosplayer Y as character Z only containsZ (cosplayed by Y). That doesn't seem to be what Log is arguing in topic #3284, though.
I agree with iridescent slime that it would be better to bring this up in the forum, if you think the cosplay tagging policy should be changed.
