I don't remember my exact thought process at the time, but I think what I meant was that the word is used to thank somebody but has a quality of regretfulness. Since "Sorry about that" is a phrase to show both gratitude and regretfulness, I thought it would work. Then again, I recently read an article on Tofugu about the word and learned it is also used as a sort of filler word for greetings and such, so maybe "Thank you" would be the better choice since it's more neutral. I'll change it back to what was in the hard-translated version for now.
