Technically, Utsuho is a raven who ATE the three-legged crow to gain it's power.

to fuse with it. after doing so, she gained three "legs."
it only makes sense to represent all of them even when in crow form.

Is she a three-legged raven (fusion of a three legged-crow and a raven), or another thing?

I believe it is impossible to determine whether she is a crow or a raven, particularly as the Yatagarasu can be either a raven or a crow.

Raven sounds cooler though.

Unless someone bothered Zun enough to get an answer out of him, we can't be sure.

But Okuu *is* a big girl, if we can go by the Tasogare fighting games; she's a smidge taller than even Komachi. Lends itself to the whole "Hell Raven" idea.

If you play SA's Reimu + Suika scenario, Reimu thinks of Utsuho as a "crow inside a crow" and compares her to one of those Russian matryoshka dolls.

ravens are also very similar creatures. it's kinda like comparing cougars to lions or something. actually, ravens and crows might be even closer than that...
