You people act like he was emo for like the entire game, when he really was only really like that for a short while, and really, that was due to the fact that he was being controlled and got thrown in Lifestream twice which, as was seen in the second time while Tifa was with him, results in some crazy ass shit and I can see why one would go end up going "emo." Hell, he was even acting emo after that event so really, the cause of his emoness was basically being dipped inside the Lifestream.
In any case, neither him or Squall [another FF char that's called emo, but came off more as an ass to me really] don't hold a candle to Luke fon Fabre because Christ.

For a guy whose fucking past had been revealed to be a lie, with pretty much everyone and their dog having messed with his head which caused him to go through all the shit he did, I'd say he bounced back from emoness pretty quick compared to other characters. Not to mention that emo or not, when push comes to shove, the badassery was always there.
Though nothing like a good ol' love kick from your girl to wake you up, huh? That's why they're both so perfect for each other.
If I'm remembering the novellas right, Cloud emo'd up after FFVII because of his shortcomings in addressing his and Denzel's geostigma; ACC supports this further. Couple that with his shortcomings in others' deaths, and he's at least got a reason. Dunno why he was such a pussy about confronting Kadaj, though. Worst that seemed to happen was him passing out, so he should just as well try; not like there were many others who'd've stood a chance, anyway.

But seeing as there's no such thing as emo, maybe you should stop throwing the word around like whiny bitch.
Cloud had ample reason to be withdrawn and brooding in the game. But he's worked through most of his baggage by the time the game ends, so he really shouldn't continue being such a useless sad sack well into Advent Children.
Tifa deserves a medal for putting up with his prima donna BS. It's a wonder she hasn't already done this.

What the fuck re you talking about? Cloud was afraid of happiness in AC as well as dealing with the void in his life.
Cloud was depressed for some time after the events of Final Fantasy VII, after being reminded about how he failed to protect Aerith and Zack. It was a key moment where Elmyra had him send flowers to the Forgotten City for Aerith. After that, he and Tifa talked and it seemed that he managed to bounce back from that too.
Then he tried finding the cure for Geostigma for Denzel. He was getting better, stronger and more confident, and he just wanted to save him. But when Cloud himself got the disease, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. If Cloud couldn't take care of himself, how could he expect to save the people around him? That's the real thing here that brought back his feelings of guilt over Zack and Aerith's death.
He's gotten over the fact that he was an experiment and had his life turned into a mindfuck and a half. It was more present situations that he must deal with as his true self that makes him depressed and doubting himself.
The more you know. Cloud's got every right to feel lost like he did in Advent Children Complete. The important thing was that he bounced back, and he did it in a big way, because he didn't have to do it alone. Enough of this emo crap, guys. Seriously, it's totally 2005 and it's getting old.
They might have explained the change in some spinoff material, but emoCloud was still an annoying concept to dump on us after all the stuff from the games.
