Not really. The ones that can’t adapt, die and don’t spread their genes to future generations. Darwin awards at its finest. Tails is the one muking things up by trying to mate with her.

Firstly, Sticks’ idea of adaption doesn’t line up with random genetic mutations better able to deal with certain environments, so it’s still completely divorced from it. Secondly, Tails getting to have his offspring with Sticks would give their children the ability to fly, which only happened because Tails’ mutation allowed him the opportunity to be with Sticke, thus being a direct example of evolution. It’s actually quite brilliant when you think about it.

Of course her idea doesn't match up with evolution. I was going with If you have the brilliant idea to jump off a cliff in order to fly, then Tails should let her fall and end her line right then and there so her genetics can't spread.

But that isn’t natural selection or survival of the fittest at all. That’s just a dumb idea, not failing to adapt to a changing environment nor being outcompeted by superior specimens who’re better able to survive and pass on their mutations. Y’know this is why I hate the “Darwin Award”, it’s a fucking misnomer that comprises just about every common misconception surrounding evolution, barring the monkeys. In order for the Darwin Award to be properly applied, it’d need to be attributed to things such as extinction brought about by radioactive fallout or stranded tourists failing to survive in a harsh environment like the frozen tundra.
