The anger this game caused was strange like it wasn't inherently offensive, racist, sexist or homophobic but people still screeched about it like it had committed some war crime.

Bandwagons are unfortunately a snowballing effect for crazy people that feel like they get a sense of belonging to a community when they dox and harass an artist out of the internet. It could've been for any reason at all, they just picked an easy first "reason why" as a target and laser focused on it, justifying their own loneliness and insanity while doxxing someone they just decided to be their target of the week.
I sincerely hope the artist is doing well. The game sold very well and the grand majority of people that play it understand how good of a ride the story is. She's still working on it, despite having left the internet for safety and sanity reasons, but man, that really sucks.
I don't know about the game, but there's lots of people who have brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, etc. Seeing those relationships twisted around and perverted is strange and awful. Incest is just a big nope.

That sounds like a personal problem. I have a sister, but I don't immediately think of her anytime I encounter incest in media. I don't feel as if my relationship with her is in some way ruined because I watched or played something that featured incest. I'm not sexually attracted to my sister and I'm not so insecure about that that media featuring incest threatens me.
What are you even trying to say? That you support harassing, threatening, and doxing someone just because they told a story that makes you uncomfortable? Cause that's a pretty messed up stance to take. I don't think it's even okay to say you understand why they feel that way, because that's not a healthy way to feel or behave. Andy and Leyley's creator did nothing wrong, and to even suggest that what people are doing or trying to do to her is even faintly justifiable or understable is a pretty shit take.
So disgust for any reason is a "you problem" now is it?
Disgust is subjective so yes.
In any case incest in media is nothing new. Oedpius Rex, Greek Mythos, Fate off the top of my head alone. Just blacklist the tag and don't play the game.

If being disgusted by something that has zero impact on you or your life means trying to ruin the life of someone that's done nothing to harm you or anyone else, then yes, it's a you problem and you should see a psychiatrist.
Being disgusted is no one's problem but your own. No one's forcing you to play the game, it's your own damn fault if you can't handle the existence of something you could just choose not to engage with.
I honestly don't see what the problem is. I still remember Nintendo's Fire Emblem, where even in the SNES era, we had the bad guys manipulating a brother-and-sister pair into copulating in order to produce the perfect inbred vessel for their fallen god. Something like this is tame in comparison. All I see is a bunch of snowflakes melting over nothing.
Remember, kids. Portrayal does not mean glorification or fetishization.

Especially if said portrayal is a somewhat hidden dream sequence with one party being absolutely horrified by what they saw after waking up. These people act as if the whole point of the game is seeing the siblings bang.

So, in other words, The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is the Deliverance of video games.

While TCoAaL doesn't glorify incest, there's no condemnation of it directly either. The relationship between Andrew and Ashley is... inadequate... For a lot more pressing reasons than the fact that they are related.
Also, about the scene showing the aftermath of the incestuous intercourse vision, how did you confuse "embarrassed and very much bricked" for "absolutely horrified"? I bet what Andrew went for after it all was probably rubbing a fat one, even. The one shocked? Ashley of all people, not because she got confirmation of what she always knew about, but because the vision was extremely graphic and Andrew got exposed to it first hand, which is kind of a punch to his façade of moralism.
Let's admit, once and for all: Andrew absolutely wants to rail Ashley.
I see we've reached that point where people are willing to commit crimes just because they don't like something.
Yeah I think this might be a new low. I’ve heard of idiots throwing fits over bullshit twitter morality or culture war shit.
But now we’re just straight up doxxing simply because they think the game sucks and they don’t like the characters? They don’t liek the artstyle
Like, do we really live in a world where if twilight came out today, that chick would have to fear for her safety? I guess it was the next logical step. If you can cancel people for petty reasons, they’re just going to become more petty but…Jesus Christ.

Is this a real question? Did you actually ask If your own emotions are your problem?
Has the mental illness spread so far, that people literally think everyone else is responsible for their tastes…?
I know…I know it’s trite to be all doomed about “the current state of discourse” but…some things just make me feel true hopelessness and despair m. Do I actually have to share a planet with people who will commit crimes because they believe a stranger who created a video game is actually responsible for what goes on in their own head…
Shit like the moral outrage over this is why there is a genuine need to gate-keep hobbies, to maintain standards and ignore the ones whose opinions didn't matter in the first place, it'll hurt some feelings here and there sure but it'd still be a net benefit. The way things are going in entertainment is inherently unstable, always leading to more clashes, like when the Japanese audience for anime learned about western "localization". When you fuck with the main source of escapism for people you are genuinely asking for it, no matter how accommodating or moral you think you're being.
To be frank I thought that incest was one of the things that twitterites would welcome along with their other values/ideas, like furries and other abnormal shit that most of us pretend to tolerate.
