that babe in purple is an enemy but later she help's mario... special: she can make him invisible...^^ she is in that special ghost trio and is one sister from the two others... ...name is vivian...but stay in the tag too....^^
In the Japanese version, Vivian is a bishonen, meaning a woman that is referenced as a man. Also, some claim that in other version Vivian is a guy, but it also counters them. They say that Vivian was called a man by Beldam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn1fHGRychI However, since Vivian has an inferiority complex, of course she wouldn't argue back.
Yes, bishounen (美少年) simply means beautiful young man. I'm not familiar with the Paper Mario games, but wikipedia states that Vivian is a male transvestite in the Japanese version. Some localizations (apparently including English but not Spanish) changed the character to a female in order to be more socially acceptable.
Actually Redcrowe is in the right on this one, it simply is a case of misunderstandings as Mario writes in his journal that Vivian is a "he" so everyone jumped the gun and believed him.
However that journal entry happens after Beldam calls Vivian a guy infront of Mario...
And let's face it, everything that Beldam says at Vivian is an insult so it shouldn't have been taken at face value to begin with.
Seabook, wikipedia can't always be trusted, it gets edited by people like us (as in, your everyday joe).
There should be no need to explain the workings of a web 2.0 encyclopaedia when posting on a web 2.0 image database. That said, it was never my intention to persuade but instead to offer as much information as possible so that people may come to their own conclusions.
The Japanese version of the game suggests that Vivian's gender is, at best, ambiguous. This image is not ambiguous and in my opinion it does not need a trap tag because an artist's intent takes precedence over canon. Someone browsing the trap tag is not likely to be interested in this image.
Actually, Vivian isn't even IN this picture. The person who commissioned the pic (the "Raelbunny" in the dedication) requested I draw a picture of Peach having been possessed by a shiny latex-skinned Shadow Siren. Hence why her hair's blonde instead of pink! In retrospect, I really should've given her outfit a different color scheme, but pink IS kind of Peach's theme color :/.
