Actually the weapon isn't useless, but my thought is that the armor is probably designed not for protection, but the sole purpose of using the gun, and sealing against space and toxic atmospheres.
If Starcraft was a movie, the gun would be a lot more useful than in the game (As it's a balance issue, and it can't be as powerful as it theoretically really can).

I thought zombies were immune to poison and (arguably) vacuums.

Spawns with the sayings "Where are my donations!?" and "Time to eat!"
Will eventually ramble about Remilia, Yukari, Sanae and ungrateful patrons if clicked enough
